MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Argentinian energy company YPF head Miguel Galuccio will visit Moscow Wednesday to sign a contract on joint exploitation of shale oil and gas fields in the Latin American country with a Gazprom subsidiary, La Nacion newspaper reported Tuesday.
According to the Argentine daily, YPF and Gazprom International are expected to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during Galuccio’s visit to Moscow.
The energy executive's visit will precede talks between Argentinian President Cristina Kirchner and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, scheduled for Thursday. It is expected that the sides will focus on promoting energy cooperation.
A large oil and gas deposit in western Argentina's Vaca Muerta was discovered in 2011. The field is believed to possess one of the world's largest reserves of shale-based hydrocarbons.
